AbstractCleaning commonly refers to taking the dirt off, and generally is done through bleaching or discoloration. Traditionally used cleaning agents or bleaching agents contain chemicals that cause potential damage to humans, animals as well to the environment. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a greener alternative substitute for the available chlorine containing cleaning/bleaching agents. The TAML® (tetra-amido macrocyclic ligand) oxidant is an efficient activator that catalyzes hydrogen peroxide oxidation. It is a well-known environmentally friendly alternative for chlorine-based bleaching processes. Our researchers at University of Arkansas have synthesized Fe-TAML in an alternative method which results in much higher yields. The resultant complex showed highly efficient in oxidation properties.
